Services

We offer both commercial and residential services. OPC’s best value is our annual subscription service. This low-cost monthly spraying also includes twice-a-year insect granule treatments at no additional cost. Insect granules control fleas, ticks and fire ants and also aid in the control of mosquitos.

Outdoor Pest Control utilizes organic botanical insecticides for all surfaces of your yard. This includes turfgrass, shrubs and flowers. Our insecticides are derived from plant oils to ensure safety. After twenty minutes, the area treated will be suitable for all normal activities.

Our primary insecticide is made from plant oils, primarily chrysanthemum and marigold oil. This is an organic botanical plant based product. After a drying time of just twenty minutes, normal activities can resume in the treated areas for people as well as pets. In use since the 1970s, this chemical is absolutely safe. If you are allergic to marigold or chrysanthemum pollen, we will substitute with an alternative.

Another agent we use is a natural bacterial larvicide called Bacillus Thuringiensis Israelensis (Bti). Bti is a microbe that can be found in soil. It creates a toxin that exclusively targets mosquito larvae. It is used to treat lakes, rivers, streams and even koi ponds. This agent has no effect on any organism other than mosquito larvae. So it’s safe for your family, your pets, aquatic life and even birds.

We also use garlic oil. This specially concentrated oil will kill mosquitos and deter some fleas. Garlic oil does leave an aroma of garlic for about two hours after application. Garlic oil is primarily used as an alternative when a customer has an allergy to the plant oils in our botanical blend.

Quality

Other pest control companies simply spray chemicals on your lawn out of a container with a pump and a small hose that sprays out large droplets onto your grass and plants. This is not the most effective way to kill mosquitos and manage other pests. Mosquitos hide during the daytime primarily on the underside of foliage. Our process uses mist blowers to break down the liquid down to droplets just three microns in size. To put that in perspective, the red blood cells in your body are about eight microns in size. Our specialized process gives us the ability to coat everything very quickly and thoroughly.

Biographies

Outdoor Pest Control was founded by Columbia natives Bill Hampton and Greg Hinson. Both Bill and Greg attended Hammond Academy and the University of South Carolina. Greg was involved with Hinson Cabinet Company, his family business and Bill was involved with Hiller Hardware Company, his family business.
